The Best Cleaning Carpet Tips
Keeping your carpet clean is extremely important for keeping out germs, bringing up the value of your home and providing a little softness under your feet. The number one reason carpets break down and experience wear is due to dirt, oily soil and any other substances that can be stepped on during the day. Here are my cleaning carpets tips that will help you out:
Don’t Ever Scrub – If you ever spill something on the floor, don’t you ever try to scrub it out. Sometimes it seems appropriate to put a little elbow grease into it, but all you’re doing is pushing the stain deeper and deeper into the fibers. This will make it next to impossible to get out.
The Solution – You want to spot clean it. This is the process of dabbing a cloth on the top. The whole point of doing this is to get the spill to stick to the cloth, rather than the floor. It’s really the only true way you can clean a carpet without making the mess worse.
Don’t Professionally Clean Too Often – Having a clean house is important to display a proper image, but there is a point where steaming and using harsh chemicals to clean the carpet can be too much. They’ll do a great job at cleaning the carpet, but they can be very hard on the carpet. If you do it too much, you’re really going to cause damage.
The Solution – Stick to having one of these deep cleans done once a year. There is absolutely no need to have it done anymore often than that. Using your vacuum on a daily basis should be enough to keep the daily dirt off the carpet. As long as you’re using your vacuum regularly, your carpet will look great.
Don’t Over Wet The Carpet – Shampoos and detergents for carpet require that it be at least wet for you to lather it, but a lot of people go overboard here. This is carpet. You’re not giving a child a bath. If you use too much water, you’ll never get it out. That leads to a huge mold problem and that is the last thing any homeowner wants to worry about.
The Solution – This is the best cleaning carpet tip that I can give you; use less water than what is recommended. For whatever shampoo or detergent you use, you’re going to have directions that will state how much water that you’re going to need. Try your best to use less than the recommended value. The worse case scenario is that you have to add more water later. It’s much better than having a soaking wet floor that will end up getting mold.
These are the cleaning carpet tips that I’ve come to know in my years. They help keep my carpet looking brand new after years of being walked on. If you follow the simple advice I have given, you should be able to achieve the same results.
