Going Green With Domestic Cleaning

There is a lot of talk lately about green technologies and other such things. It seemed inevitable that there would be a call for going green with domestic cleaning. A lot of people don’t realise that the cleaners they use around the house are actually quite bad for the environment. Often they go down the drain and pollute our rivers. Each person needs to be a little more considerate for mother earth and make the individual choice to put better decisions into practice. Only you can make the choice to go with a better form of cleaning product that is not going to hurt the environment. I’m going to show you things you can do for going green with domestic cleaning.

What you may not be aware of is that there are a lot of green cleaners that are already in your home right now. Things like vinegar, baking soda or club soda can be used as amazing cleaners that do absolutely no harm to the environment.

Cleaning Toilets – There is a really easy and safe way of cleaning the toilet that you may not be aware of, all you have to do is sprinkle baking soda into the toilet. Leave it there for a few minutes to allow it to soak in and do its work. The next step is giving the bowl a good scrubbing and than a flush. That’s all it takes to clean the toilet in a green way.

Oven Cleaning – Traditional oven cleaners are some of the worst products for the environment. The chemicals are extra strong because an oven tends to cake on a lot of food. Here is an easy green method that you can apply; what you want to do is powder the floor of the oven with baking soda. Take a spray bottle full of water and spray the baking soda until its damp. You may need to do this throughout the day to keep the baking soda damp. Leave it overnight and in the morning you should be able to easily remove all the dirt.

Cleaning Floors – Cleaning the floor in a green way isn’t that difficult. You can do it in the same traditional method with your mop; you just need to change the liquid you use. All that is required is a mixture of water and vinegar. Mix one part vinegar with ten parts of water. Just mop it like a regular floor and it will look like new. The smell of vinegar will stick around for a few hours, but will disappear.

These are just a few of the ways of going green with domestic cleaning. You can pretty much clean anything with baking soda, vinegar and club soda. Sometimes you just need to use your imagination. It isn’t hard or difficult to go green. You’ll soon realise that doing it this way is a lot cheaper than going out and buying those expensive chemicals that you’ve been previously using.
